The purpose of the Medical Terminology course is to provide an introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The course will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment to the language of medicine. In addition, the course will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology. Course is for those involved in medical billing, medical coding, medical administration, emergency responders, public safety professionals, and those who wish to gain a more thorough understanding of medical terms and/or enhance the knowledge base they already have.
As this is a self-study online course, participants may take it whenever at any time. Upon registering the participant shall receive an email containing a PIN and website URL to login and access the course. Both those credentials will be needed each time the course is accessed. It may take up until 24 hours after registration for the PIN to be generated and the email to be sent..
The course is divided into 15 modules:
- Introduction to medical terminology
- Body structures
- Word parts
- Integumentary system
- The breast
- Musculoskeletal system
- Nervous system
- The sensory system
- Cardiovascular system
- Lymphatic and immune system
- Respiratory system
- Digestive system
- The endocrine system
- Reproductive system
- Urinary system
Each module has its own test in which the participant must earn 70% in order to advance to the next module or complete the course.
On average, the course takes between 12 and 24 hours to complete. As this is a self-paced course, the time it truly takes varies greatly on the participant.
Upon successfully completing the course, the participant will be able to print a completion certificate.
WHAT IF I FAIL ANY OF THE TESTS?
You need 70% on each module test in order to advance to the next module or to complete the course. If you fail you can repeat the test as many times as necessary to reach the passing mark. Each test will be unique as the test randomly draws questions from the test bank.

The ability to understand and interpret medical terminology is beneficial to many medical professions, such as medical coding, medical administration, emergency responders, medical billing, public safety professionals, any other profession which requires the ability to analyze, understand, and communicate proper medical terms.

DO I HAVE TO DO THE ENTIRE COURSE IN AT ONE TIME?
You may leave the course at anytime and resume where you left off. There is no restriction on how many times you can access the course.
