This course offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth 9-13 years old. Participants will learn about being safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities. This course replaces the PeopleSavers course previously offered.
This course is offered in-class only.
This course is 5 to 6 hours long.
This course is available by booking a private course. Contact the office if you are interested in a private course.
Minimum of 9 years of age, or completion of grade 3.
There is no course completion criteria as this is a general awareness course with activities.
There is no recertification option for this course.
- The importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
- The importance of setting and following safety rules when on your own
- How to stay safe at home and within the community
- How to prepare for, recognize and respond to unexpected situations (ex: inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)
- Basic first aid skills
The participant will receive a workbook.
What is the age requirement for the course?
Each participant must be at least 9 years of age, or have completed grade 3.
What are my options if I am unsuccessful in the course?
There is no possibility of being unsuccessful as this is an awareness course. It’s all about participation.
Can I take a recertification course?
There is no recertification option with this course.
