WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We understand that sometimes life changes your plans, and often with last minute notice. With that in mind we have a generous cancellation plan. If after registering for a course you are unable to attend, we simply ask for you to contact us before 12:00pm on the last business day before the course starts. After that time, if you took the final spot in the course and prevented others from joining, you will be charged the full cost of the course if we are unable to fill the spot. If we are successful in filling the spot or you give more then the minimum notice as stated above, there is no financial penalty and you will be entitled to re-schedule or a full refund. If you do not attend the course without warning, you forfeit the possibility of a refund or re-scheduling, and would have to pay again to secure a spot to attend a course.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CANCEL OUR COURSE?
All courses are subject to a minimum number of participants being enrolled in them. On the rare occasion when not enough participants sign up, the course will be canceled. There may be other rare reasons for course cancellations, such as harsh weather conditions. If we ever cancel the course, you will be entitled to a full refund, or will be offered a discount to re-schedule for another course.
WHO DO YOU SHARE MY PERSONAL INFO WITH?
We believe in protecting your privacy, and only release your necessary contact information to the Canadian Red Cross. This is required to register your certification. Beyond this one mandatory exception, we do not share your information with any other person or organization. As with any other person or company we may be compelled to release your information if the demand is by a lawful means with the authority to do so (ex: a court order).
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET CERTIFIED?
Generally speaking, you must:
- Attend 100% of the course.
- Take a written test (the passing mark varies from course to course).
- Pass final scenarios.
- Demonstrate your ability to perform the skills throughout the course.
Keep in mind the certification requirements vary from course to course. Please see the course details section of the course webpage to find out.
HOW LONG IS MY CERTIFICATION VALID FOR?
Certification is valid for three years from the date you completed the course. Both the course completion date and certification expiry date will be printed on your card. However some employers, typically those in a HCP or EMS field, require that their employees recertify the CPR portion of their certification. Do not mistake the difference between that employment requirement and certification. Your course in fact certifies you for the three years however in order to work for that employer you must submit to their policies.
HOW DOES YOUR REFERRAL PROGRAM WORK?
We want to show our appreciation when you feel satisfied about your experience with us and you share those thoughts with others, causing them to come in the door. Our referral program is simple. When someone you referred attends the course, they fill out your name and date you took your course on their registration form. You will then be contacted and offered your referral bonus (typically sent as an e-transfer). The amount you earn per referral varies based on the length of the course itself. Contact the office for more information.
HOW DO I ORGANIZE A PRIVATE COURSE?
We can organize private courses for any type of group and at any location, including yours! In fact that is the most common request when clients wish to have a private course for themselves. Simply contact our office and we’d be happy to quote you a special discounted price for a course that is tailor designed to meet your needs and wishes.
HOW DO I REPLACE MY CERTIFICATION CARD?
Certification cards are not re-issued by us, and in the event you need a new certification card, you must contact the national Canadian Red Cross call center. They will mail you another card for a fee of $15. This fee has nothing to do with us, nor do we receive any portion of it. If you don’t need the actual certification and only need to show proof you attended the course, you can ask the call center agent for proof of attendance and you will be e-mailed a letter attesting this. This option is offered free of charge. The call center number is 1-877-356-3226 and is open the following hours:
- Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. ET
- Friday 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. ET
- Saturday and Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. ET
HOW DO RECERTIFICATION COURSES WORK?
Recertification (commonly called “recert”) courses are abbreviated courses meant to be refreshers for the purpose of renewing your certification. Since it is a refresher course no new knowledge is taught and instead it focuses on the practical skills, particularly you demonstrating you still know them. You are also expected to know the theory aspect of the course as little time is spent on reviewing that. You can only take one recertification course between full courses… you cannot take consecutive recertification courses. Not at all courses allow recertification courses. Each course page has a recertification heading that outlines the recert option, if any, for that course.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION?
Any credit card information handed over is used strictly for the purchase in question. Credit card information is securely processed by our online payment processor, and none of that information is kept or stored by us.
DO YOU SPONSOR ANY EVENTS?
We are happy to consider supporting/sponsoring charitable events, and invite you to contact us to discuss the opportunity.
WHY IS THE BLENDED LEARNING COURSE MORE EXPENSIVE THEN THE IN-CLASS COURSE?
Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid, and CPR are the only courses currently available as both in-class and blended (part online, part in-class). The reason why the cost is a little bit more for the blended learning, even though there is less in-class time, is because of the added cost to access and maintain the online course portion.
